FAQs

What is polymer clay?

Polymer clay is made from PVC (polyvinyl chloride) and a plasticizer. It is a type of modelling clay that needs to be baked to harden. Once cured, it is waterproof and lightweight.

Before you order
Our earrings and hair clips are all handmade so it is hard for every pair to be the same. There may be slight imperfections and variations in color from the photos due to lighting, air bubbles, etc. We hope you understand.

What materials do you use?

High quality imported polymer clay from Europe and America. They are extremely lightweight, odorless, waterproof and non-toxic.

All earrings are hypoallergenic & nickel free. We use S925 silver, 14k or 18k gold filled for all earrings. However, these findings may contain a trace amount of nickel (5-8%). This is okay for the majority of sensitive ears, but if you're highly allergic or irritated by nickel, please be aware before purchasing. Brass findings are sometimes used along with the earrings.

What material are the earring backs?

We use high quality thick rubber backs imported from Japan. These sit comfortably on the back of your ears. Each pair of pierced stud earrings (i.e. ball studs, sparkly top studs, ribbon studs, etc.) will include a pair of rubber backs. If you need to buy extra, click here

Can I change to clip-on earrings?

Clip-ons are available per request. Not all earrings can be made into clip-ons. Please contact us before purchasing. Click here for more information.

How do you make your products?

Our products are usually made in these steps: designing the product, mixing and conditioning the clay, cutting, baking, sanding, drilling and assembling. If you want more behind the scenes footage of the process, check out our Instagram page! (@charmainestudios
